992 GT3RS XPEL PPF

When purchasing a new car, it’s an exciting time and can take many months for the car to arrive. It can be tempting to take delivery of the car and hit the roads straight away and begin to enjoy it. However, many owners kick themselves down the line when they start to notice stone chips, scratches and other damage from normal road use. As hard as it can be to hand over your new car to us for paint protection film, the optimum time to do this is straight out of the dealership.

This is exactly what the owner of this stunning Porsche 992 GT3RS did. When the vehicle was ordered, he contacted us to discuss protecting this very valuable and desirable vehicle. Once the vehicle arrived at the dealer and had it’s pre-delivery inspection, the car came straight to Assetti and the protection started.

Every vehicle which is having paint protection film, firstly goes through an extensive decontamination wash process. Even though these cars are brand new, they have been transported on boats, trucks and even rail, sometimes sitting in compounds for days or even weeks. During our wash stages any tar or iron deposits are removed from the paint, the entire car is fully cleaned and inspected to ensure it’s in top condition prior to any PPF being installed.

Using the XPEL DAP template library, our team then start putting together and plotting each panel of the vehicle using the precisely designed patterns by XPEL. This ensured maximum coverage and longevity of the patterns, along with XPEL’s 10 year film warranty to give you peace of the mind the install will last.

Installing full car PPF can take anywhere from 3-5 days depending on the car. Each make and model is carefully considered for coverage options and challenges. On the 992 GT3RS for example, the factory applied side decals are installed over the factory ‘sharkfin’ PPF. Ideally this is all removed, full panel coverage applied along with new decals and then replacement ‘sharkfin’ PPF over the top for maximum protection and a seamless install.

As an expert installation centre, we are able to do all of this ensuring OEM quality decals are sourced and re applied to factory standards so the vehicle looks exactly how it should. This attention to detail is what makes a good PPF job great.

With it’s self healing top coat, XPEL PPF ensures the vehicle is not only protected from chips but also scratches. When washing and driving a vehicle, scratches, swirls or marring are a fact of life. With PPF however this light swirling will self-heal and disappear with heat, be that from the sun, the warmth of the engine or even warm water. This ensures your vehicle looks brand new for many miles to come and there is no need for polishing a fully protected car.

After consultation with the customer, we settled on adding some additional PPF protection to the high traffic areas, which on the aggressively designed 992 GT3RS is around all 4 wheel arch areas. The cut out sections for aerodynamics, also allow any debris from the wheels to be thrown up the car. After fully covering each panel, custom designed ‘tear off’ PPF sections were added behind the front and rear wheels. This is done as an extra insurance policy as the PPF is essentially doubled and once these areas show any wear, they can simply be removed and replaced without having to remove the entire panel.

With full PPF coverage using XPEL ultimate plus, replacement OEM style sharkfins and extra PPF in the wheel arch areas the car is almost ready to hit the road. For those owners who want to ensure maximum protection, we offer various ceramic coating packages to further enhance and protect the vehicle. Using the Gyeon range, this particular 992 GT3RS was then treated with Gyeon Q2 EVO Infinite ceramic coating on the body and Gyeon wheel ceramic coating on all four wheels.

This makes the vehicle very easy to wash and maintain, with it’s hydrophobic nature dirt does not stick to a ceramic coated vehicle which helps keep it cleaner for longer. When it comes time to wash the vehicle, the process is much easier thanks to these ceramic coatings.
